Houses of Parliament

Getting there on the underground and posing with Big Ben was just the start!

We were taken around and learned a lot about our ancient democracy. Some of us nearly incurred the wrath of Black Rod by “nearly” sitting down in the Commons. Phew that was a close one.

We also had fun trying to work out who the statues were of the prime ministers in the lobby. It made Emlyn feel very old as he could remember a  few of them. He found Margaret a bit scary but was reassured by Harold and Edward.

Then to St James’ Park for lunch and a viewing of the pelicans.

On Monday 9th September 2013 in a somewhat damp conditions a group of GCSE Art students together with some Year 9 students headed to Buckingham Palace for a Landscape Drawing Workshop.

They experienced some of the paintings in The State Rooms with an expert from The Palace before heading out into the grounds for some sketching.
