Media Studies Jan/Feb 2017

This term the yr 6-8 have been studying Comic Strips and Cartoons as part of Media Studies. Their final task was to create a cartoon/comic strip based on a story given to them. They were required to use the skills they had learnt over the half term to design a Their version of comic. Some worked in pairs and some individually.

Journey’s End a play about WWI

SAM_4745The year 10 and 11 History students visited the Rhodes Centre in Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday 7th October 2014 to see “Journey’s End”, the play by R.C. Sherriff showing life and death in the trenches during the First World War.

We came back having been given a lot to think about especially about loyalty and perseverance. A sub plot was that you don’t need to be perfect to be good!

Juniors wrap up warm to learn about road safety

If you are reading this blog because you have seen a flyer or poster advertising our Open Morning on March 10th, welcome. I hope what you read will kindle your interest and we will see you on Saturday 10th March. If you can’t make it you can book an appointment to look around the school by phoning the school office on 01279  871182.

It’s been another busy half term with a mix of activities ranging from pizza production to visiting Gainsborough House in Sudbury. The GCSE Art group visited Tate modern; the school was opened to local people for a coffee morning in aid of the Meninadança charity; Year 7 performed their play, Chaga, about chocolate and child slavery and the juniors charmed the members of “Crowning Years” at the Charis Centre with a performance of “Out of The Blue”. The juniors also had a morning learning about road safety and how to be safe near parked cars.

In just six weeks I think we can safely say the children have enjoyed a wealth of experiences which will inform and inspire their class work.

Out of the Blue

Junior reporters, Rhianna, Joshua and Millie, report on the Junior play performed at the school this Christmas.

Rhianna writes that a production of ‘Out of the Blue’ was held at The Christian School Takeley on Tuesday 13th December 2011. The play was performed by the Junior class.

The production was based, in part, on the amazing creatures and habitats of the ocean. This was inspired by a lovely project they had been doing on the same subject.
