Geography Field Trip ~ Year 7-9

hf trip2

Year 7, 8 and 9 walked to nearby Hatfield Forest for an all-day field trip. We collected data on footpath trampling and erosion in three different locations, practised drawing field sketches and sketch maps and carried out questionnaires on some very helpful visitors to the forest. The year nines carried out valley profile measurements near the ‘London Bridge’. We had a picnic lunch by the lake, and some of the children enjoyed playing football! We ended the day with ice creams from the shop before walking back to school. The sun shone all day – the Lord is gracious. The pupils are now processing the data they collected, which will soon be put on a display at school – watch this space.

Geography Field Trip ~ Year 10

maldonThe year 10 Geography group visited five locations along the length of the River Chelmer in Essex. They collected data to investigate the change in the cross profile of the river from near the source of the river at Thaxted, in Dunmow and near Little Baddow. Finally we visited the river estuary at Maldon. The data they collected is being used as part of their controlled assessment.

Chicken Club

Aside

Ginger-3We became the proud owners of three chickens at the beginning of the year. Their names are Poppy, Speckle and Ginger (pictured above). They lay very reliably, and are much loved by many of the children at school who feed them, collect eggs and help clean out the cage at Chicken Club.
